Residents attend inaugural ball

The inauguration of Gov. Henry McMaster was the highlight of last week’s news. Gov. McMaster took the oath of office in front of the State House in Columbia Jan. 9.

After a day full of events, the inaugural ball capped off the momentous occasion.

Lexington was well-represented with the Charles Gatch Band and many county residents. Soloist Judy Parler Randall entertained guests with many favorites. Other attending included Sen. Nikki and Ada Jane Setzler, Lexington Mayor Steve and Jamie MacDougall, Attorney General Alan and Jennifer Wilson, state representatives Chris Wooten and Paula Rawl Calhoon with husband Donnie Myers, county Councilman Darrell Hudson, Lexington Medical Center President Tod Augusberger and Dianne, Lexington Chamber Presdient Otis Rawl, Ralph Kennedy, Mary and Jerry Howard, Cate and Nick Mongell, Ben Satcher, Jennie and Kenny Bingham, Dianne and Keith Pound, Jame and Art Fusco, and Kristen and Richard Hook.

The Greater Lexington Chamber of Coomerce had its breakfast meeting Jan. 8. After a full Southern breakfast, Chamber Chair Try Simpson and President Otis Rawl opened the meeting. An “open mike” session allowed all present to introduce themselves and their businesses.

Featured speaker was county Councilman Darrell Hudson, who spoke of the word “tired.” T stands for Traffic and turn lanes, I is for infrastructure, R is for roads and repairs, E is for exits, and D is for density. He was passionate and firm that these is-sures need improvement.

The chamber will hold its awards lucheon Feb. 26 at the Lexington Church of Christ.

Lexington County Museum Director JR Fennell entertained attendees at the Jan. 8 Lunch and Lean at Shiloh UMC with Lexington County stories of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Leader Donna Griffin invites you to attend the next luncheon Feb. 12, noon, at the church. The topic is healthy heart smarts and surviving heart disease.
