Roll up your sleeves, but wear a mask

Will you roll up your sleeve? Millions of Americans will do just that as they eagerly await the virus vaccine. The 1st vaccination in SC was administered to a health care worker last Tuesday at LMC. Medical personnel received this life-saving shot, with nursing home patients next in line. Hopefully seniors can be next.

These vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna are truly a blessing. We are cautioned not to let our guard down, continue masks, other safety precautions and social distancing. Charlie Brown’s Snoopy has a solution, “When my arms can’t reach people who are close to my heart I always hug them with my prayers.”

This leads us to a different Christmas celebration. Large groups are not recommended. Our family plans to be in daughter Sally’s garage with the door open for safety but space heaters for warmth and comfort. Loving family faces will warm our spirits.

Make it a Christmas to remember!

ANNE BULL reports that Mt. Horeb UMC members were able to make $100 for each family in the church that needs it. We will hear about how members use this Advent gift to care for others. Members are sharing their stories by emailing advent gift@mthorebumc.com

WE CAN safely ride around at night looking at the festive lights. Some of our favorites include: Providence Lutheran Church on Old Chapin Road, our downtown Lexington and as always Corley Mill Road.

Many Lexington homes have unique and beautiful indoor decorations. Tricia and Tom Thain have many sentimental and personal decorations throughout their home. Special items include the grandchildren’s silhouette pictures in wreaths hung with red gingham ribbons on the kitchen cabinets and a Christmas tree displaying Christmas cards they received this year.

Bill and Pat Crigler’s home is adorned with lights, greenery, ribbons, Santas and several trees, enhanced by their scenic view of Lake Murray. One of Anne and Dennis Bull’s trees features ornaments from the White House Historical Association. Each year the association honors a past president with a unique ornament and information about how that president celebrated Christ mas in the White House. This year’s ornament honored President John F. Kennedy.
