Pelion Ruritan members have made final plans for the Memorial Service May 25 at 10 am. This year’s service will be shortened. With the closing of schools, the chorus, band and JROTC can’t participate. Please practice social distancing, bring a chair and wear a mask. Soldiers of Faith and bagpipe player Ed Wilkes will perform. SC Patriot Guard Riders will attend The Lexington County Sheriff’s Honor Guard will present a 21-gun salute.
The Pelion Branch Library staff are anxious to open. Tune in for announcements at https://lexcolibrary.com. Virtual Summer Reading begins June 1. This program is similar to what the Reading Program was last year. The library staff has also planted spring vegetables in the community garden. The garden is filled with tomatoes, beans and peppers. A new Pollinator Garden has been started in one of the beds. It will have a variety of plants to lure bees.
Stop by the library and explore the garden. It may inspire you to plant your own vegetables to grow and eat.
For folks who don’t have a library card, you may obtain a temporary one through the website for access to ebooks, videos, audiobooks, databases and more. Library staffers have a “Corona Virus Resource Directory” of financial, health, education and recreation information.
Congratulations to granddaughter Logan Hadaway and husband Colin who welcomed a baby boy, Solomon Whitaker Hadaway. Solomon will be welcomed home by big sister Makayla. Happy birthday to Donald Jeffcoat and Malcolm Lucas.
