Santa makes it to Lexington again

Posted

Santa arrived in Lexington Sunday in the annual Christmas parade. Many bystanders enjoyed the pleasant weather while anticipating this festive event.

Lexington police heralded the parade start down Main Street. The Toys for Tots entry reminded everyone to give and make a happy Christmas for children.

Sheriff Jay and Kim Koon waved to the crowd. Congressman Joe and Roxanne Wilson gave greetings to all. Solicitor Rick Hubbard extended good wishes. Lexington Town Council was well represented by members Todd Carnes, Ron Williams and Catherine and Todd Lyle all on a beautifully decorated float. Dance groups dressed in holiday fashion and headdresses of reindeer antlers, Santa hats and tiaras. It seemed to be a girls delight to take part.

The Blowfish represented baseball along with youth hockey, cheerleaders and K-9 dogs. Rep. Paula Rawl Calhoun walked the route with her “Lexington Strong” supporters and husband Donnie Myers. Many beautiful queens joined like Miss SC Teen Kellan Fenegan of Lexington. Most impressive was a float decorated in white and 4 angels spreading their wings to Christmas music.

Numerous Scout troops and leaders were seen. Capping the 2020 parade was the jolly ole’ gent himself, Santa.
