SC health officials want you to be able to get covid-19 vaccine when it’s available.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control is launching a new immunization information system.
It will help vaccine providers ensure access to essential immunizations.
The Statewide Immunization Online Network, or SIMON , replaces the state’s previous immunization reporting system to:
• Provide a streamlined process for ordering vaccines.
• Manage inventory of federal and state vaccine programs.
• Assess and address statewide immunization coverage rates.
Dr. Brannon Traxler of DHEC called it “a monumental upgrade for our state’s immunizations program.”
“To protect ourselves from this deadly virus,” he said, “stay as healthy as possible and avoid contracting vaccine-preventable diseases like mumps, measles, chicken pox and whooping cough.”
SIMON is supposed to provided immunization information to an individual’s medical history.
