Seniors get in free with Golden Pass

Posted

Lexington-Richland School District 5 wants to encourage senior citizens to be involved and active in district-sponsored events and activities for the upcoming school year.

The district is again offering Golden Passes to residents who will be 60 or older during the 2019-2020 school year.

The permanent photo identification card provides free admission into most athletic and cultural arts events in School District 5, excluding playoff games.

Last year, more than 300 individuals were issued district Golden Passes.

“The Golden Pass program brings community members of all ages together and provides an opportunity to say thank you to our senior community for volunteering and supporting our schools,” School District 5 Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton said.

“When the stands are filled, our students feel supported by the community and recognized for their efforts.”

As part of a new initiative to the Golden Pass, School District 5 has partnered this year with Greenville County Schools for its reciprocal program. For specified away athletic events, Golden Pass recipients will be given free admission.

Passes will be issued on Tuesday, August 6 between 1 pm and 4 pm and Wednesday, August 7 between 9 am and noon at the district administration building, which is located at 1020 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo. Golden Passes are lifetime passes and do not need to be renewed.

For more information, contact the district’s Communications Office at 476-8118.
