South Carolina voters solidify names for November ballot

With November fast approaching, and primaries and run-offs out of the way, Lexington locals now have a clearer idea as to what their ballots will look like later this year.  

Here are some of the names that were victorious in the 2024 state primaries and run-offs:  

Democrat Francie Kleckley earned 51% of the 1,998 Democratic votes cast in the S.C. Senate District 10 race, which covers Greenwood, Saluda and Lexington counties. She will face Republican Billy Garrett who earned 56.17% of the 8,782 Republican votes. 

Republican Carlisle Kennedy earned 62.50% of the 7,809 Republican votes cast in the S.C. Senate District 23 race, which covers Lexington County. He is running unopposed.

Democrat Russell Ott earned 51.27% of the 4,708 Democratic votes cast in the S.C. Senate District 26 race, which covers Lexington, Richland and Calhoun counties. He will face Republican Jason Guerry who earned 54.84% of the 1,993 Republican votes.  

David Robinson II earned 84.05% of the 19,392 Democratic votes cast in the U.S. House of Representatives District 2 race, which covers Aiken, Barnwell, Orangeburg, Lexington and Richland counties. He will face Joe Wilson, who earned 73.94% of the 46,377 Republican votes. 

Republican Cal Forrest earned 81.45% of the 5,208 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 39 race, which covers Saluda and Lexington counties. He is running unopposed. 

Republican Joe White earned 55.86% of the 5,197 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 40 race, which covers Newberry and Lexington counties. He is running unopposed. 

Republican Jay Kilmartin earned 55.37% of the 4,768 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 85 race, which covers Lexington County. He is running unopposed. 

Republican Paula Rawl Calhoon earned 61.93% of the 5,571 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 87 race, which covers Lexington County.  

Republican RJ May earned 68.20% of the 3,685 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 88 race, which covers Lexington County. He is running unopposed. 

Democrat Jerry Govan earned 56.58% of the 2,803 Democratic votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 93 race, which covers Lexington, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties. He is running unopposed. 

Republican D. Ryan McCabe earned 62.13% of the 3,285 Republican votes in the S.C. House of Representatives District 96 race, which covers Lexington County. He is running unopposed. 

Republican Jay Koon earned 62.60% of the 29,208 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the sheriff race. 

Republican Michael Bishop earned 51.62% of the 2,373 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the Lexington County Council District 1 race.  

Republican Darrell Hudson earned 62.56% of the 4,196 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the Lexington County Council District 3 race.  

Republican Todd Cockrell earned 51.53% of the 3,260 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the Lexington County Council District 4 race.  

Republican Clifford Fisher earned 60.94% of the 2,888 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the Lexington County Council District 5 race.  

Republican Charli Wessinger earned 54.82% of the 4,511 Republican votes cast across Lexington County in the Lexington County Council District 6 race.  

Editor’s note: 2024 primary and run-off results printed in the June 20 and July 4 papers reflect votes cast by Lexington County voters only. They do not take into account votes from neighboring counties for seats that represent more than Lexington County. The above numbers are from the South Carolina Election Commission’s official state-wide results from the 2024 primaries and run-offs.
