Friday — Feb. 10

“Matilda, Jr.” (play)
Head over to Village Square Theatre (105 Caughman Rd.) for a performance of “Matilda, Jr.”: “Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace.” Production continues through Feb. 19. Modern Daze (concert)

Polar Plunge
Brave the cold and head over to the Lake Murray Dam Park site (1832-34 North Lake Dr.) for the Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge is part of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign and 100% of the funds raised directly benefit Special Olympics programs around the state. Prettier Than Matt (concert)

Miley Cyrus Drag Brunch
Columbia Kings n’ Things is throwing a Miley Cyrus drag brunch tribute at The Hideout in WeCo (118 State St.in West Columbia). Showtimes are at 11 a.m., 2 and 5 p.m. and are open to those 18 and up. Admission costs $10 ($15 at the door). The show will also be live-streamed on YouTube for $1. Tuesday — Feb. 14

S.C. Jazz Masterworks Ensemble (concert)
The S.C. Jazz Masterworks Ensemble and the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Tech (7300 College St. in Irmo) present “Jazz Is For Lovers,” an evening of great jazz love songs delivered by veteran local jazz players. Columbia RV Expo
