Friday – April 5

Elvis Ballet

The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) and the South Carolina Ballet present a production simply titled “Elvis Ballet.” The performance is a mix of dance and music paying tribute to the legendary Elvis Presley and the timeless hits of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.  Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $50. Students, seniors over age 60 and military personnel receive a $5 discount on tickets. Visit harbisontheatre.org for more information. 

Riverstone (concert)

The Americana folk duo Riverstone performs at BOHO Pizza & Brew (2514 Augusta Hwy.). The husband-and-wife pairing of musicians start their show, which mixes acoustic originals and covers, at 7 p.m. This show is free to attend. Visit bohopizzaandbrew.com for more information. 

Saturday – April 6

Spring Market

Crooked Creek Park (1098 Old Lexington Hwy. in Chapin) hosts a Spring Market. Shoppers can purchase one-of-a-kind items including paintings, handmade jewelry, home décor items, and much more. Area artists, crafters, business owners are invited to participate as vendors in this sale. This event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to attend. Visit icrc.net for more information. 

Tartan Day Highland Games

Head over to 2001 Charleston Hwy. in Cayce and enjoy the Tartan Day Highland Games. Saturday’s packed schedule includes feats of strength like the caber toss, the hammer throw and the sheaf toss, live music from Tuatha Dea, SYR and Eireann’s Call, and an expansive British car show. Sounds of A&R (concert)

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) and the Sounds of A&R (singer April May Webb and trumpeter Roy Hargrove) present “An Evening of Soul Jazz Songs.” Rod Foster & Company backs the duo, and you can expect to hear hits and classics by Roberta Flack, Curtis Mayfield, Lauryn Hill, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye and many more. Mac Leaphart (concert)

Nashville singer/songwriter Mac Leaphart performs at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce). Leaphart mixes hook-heavy roots music, honky-tonk rock & roll, and salty, sharply detailed songwriting, and he plays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This show is free to attend. Dining On The Dam

You might not think of the Lake Murray Dam (1832 N. Lake Dr.) as the place to find the best food in town, but the “Dining on the Dam” series might change that. The Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center presents one of Lexington’s most notable events, where over 1,200 guests from the Midlands enjoy delicious food, beer and wine, cocktails and live music on the from The Hitman Party Band. This event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and tickets are $165, which includes a catered meal from Southern Way Catering and an open bar with cocktails, beer, wine, and other beverages. Tuesday – April 9

Music Bingo

Hazelwood Brewing Company (711 E. Main St.) holds their weekly Music Bingo night. Bring your friends, fill up your card with music trivia, famous names, great hits and more, and win great prizes. Thursday – April 11

Midlands Plant & Flower Festival

The SC State Farmers Market (3483 Charleston Hwy. in West Columbia) hosts the Midlands Plant & Flower Festival. Shop for spring plants and flowers, gardening equipment, décor, and seasonal produce, all while planning out your Spring garden. The Sole Purpose (concert)

The Icehouse Live concert series rolls on at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) with a performance by The Sole Purpose. The band hits the stage at 6:30 p.m. to play their eclectic blend of acoustic/electric funk, soul, R&B, country and rock. This show, sponsored by the Lexington Medical Center, is free to attend. The Drifters (concert)

The classic doo-wop group The Drifters perform at the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo). Their show, titled “Sing It From The Rooftop,” returns the historic group to its roots with a repertoire of timeless hits like “Up on the Roof,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “There Goes My Baby,” “Stand by Me” and more of the classics that made them the first African American vocal group to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Gregorian (concert)

The Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St.) hosts Gregorian on Friday, April 5th. This group of eight classically trained English vocalists are on their first North American tour, and the show includes guest performers Amelia Brightman and countertenor Narcis. Columbia International Festival

The Columbia International Festival returns to the SC State Fairgrounds (1200 Rosewood Dr.) on Saturday, April 6th. Sample exotic foods from around the world, take in the native dance performances, shop for authentic clothing, jewelry, crafts and souvenirs, learn a craft or take in a fashion show at this multicultural event. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is $7 for adults and $4 for teens aged 13-19. Kids 12 and under get in free. Visit cifonline.org for more information. 

Aiken County Farmer’s Market

Whether you need to pick up some fresh food or you simply like shopping local, the Aiken County Farmer’s Market (115 Williamsburg St.) is the perfect spot. Shop for locally produced fresh produce, baked goods, meat, honey, and dairy products, along with handmade crafts. Monster Jam

The giant trucks of Monster Jam roll into the Colonial Life Arena (801 Lincoln St.) on Saturday, April 6th. The drivers and trucks on hand are Grave Digger driven by Weston Anderson, El Toro Loco, driven by Elvis Lainez, Scooby-Doo driven by Linsey Read, Monster Mutt Dalmatian driven by Jamie Sullivan, Megalodon driven by Mikayla Tulachka and Just Get-Er-Done driven by Brandan Tulachka. Enoree River Winery Spring Concert Series

The Enoree River Winery (1650 Dusty Rd. in Newberry) hosts another edition of their annual Spring concert series, “Unpack The Porch” on Sunday, April 7th. Enjoy live music from Jackson Truluck and food from the Lobster Dogs food truck. Sample wine by the glass or bottle, enjoy some snacks and relax outdoors.
