Christopher Johnson of Pelion Middle School, traveled to the tiny island state of Kosrae, located at the far eastern end of the million square miles of Micronesia. The Habele Outer Island Education Fund, a nonprofit organization based in South Carolina, provides educational support to schools across Micronesia.

This organization invited Johnson to help establish a robotics team on Kosrae. The organization offers scholarships, book donations, and after-school clubs, with a focus on robotics and STEM. Mr. Johnson eagerly joined a collaborative effort to bring greater STEM opportunities to students with very limited educational resources.

There is an open seat on the Pelion’s Planning Commission and any town resident wanting to serve on this commission is asked to go to Town Hall and speak to the Town Clerk for further information.
