The razing of Pineview Elementary is complete

Posted

The building that was once Pineview Elementary School is now gone.

“I am grateful that I got to spend the bulk of my career there and be a part of the Pineview community,” said Amy Brant. She taught kindergarten at Pineview for 23 years. And her two children, Christopher and Emma went to school there.

The demolition of Pineview Elementary, 3035 Leaphart Road in West Columbia, started in late August. The 52,300-plus square-foot school was built in 1968 on nine acres. Pineview closed in spring of 2018, after hosting Lexington Two students for 50 years. Would-be Pineview students now go to Riverbank Elementary.

Brant said she is grateful for Riverbank Elementary, where she now teaches. But she has a lot of Pineview memories.

“Every day was special at Pineview,” Brant said. She also said she feels some sadness for it to be gone.

“It was the community, the family and home for me,” she said of Pineview. “It was a great opportunity to work there.”

According to Lexington School District Two the property will be left as a green space.
