West Columbia Police have announced an arrest following a 2022 homicide.
Charles Edward Way, 40 of Lexington, is accused of killing 62-year-old Michael Crolley, who was found dead along the 2600 block of Augusta Road on July 3 in the woodline near the roadway.
Shortly after the body was discovered, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office declared the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries. Once the death was determined to be a homicide, an investigation was initiated.
Way was arrested March 12 and is charged with murder. He was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest.
Crolley was registered by the state as a sex offender and faced pending charges for separate crimes in Lexington County at the time of his death, including distribution of meth and multiple traffic violations.
This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
