It was the helicopter ride of a lifetime!

Gilbert Elementary School Principal Will Moody flew in a helicopter for a good cause. While hovering over a large field he dropped over 1,600 golf balls. Why and what for? It was for Gilbert Elementary School’s annual fund-raiser.

GES’s Helicopter Golf Ball Drop sold golf balls for $10 per ball or 12 balls for $100.

Their grand prize was $10,000 for a ball to drop on the field target. Golf balls were bought online or by check. Each golf ball was numbered. Over $16,000 was raised.

No one won the grand prize but there were several winners. Congratulations to: Andrea Newton, Ginny Wessinger, Tammy Williamson, Deborah Lewis, Ken Beasley, Nikki Monts, Bella Palma, Ragan Rust, Tamara Bowdler, Tunisia Smith Jennings, Jon athan Collins, P. Phipps Glatz, Madeline Gainey, and Jamie Early. GES thanks everyone who supported their fundraiser. All proceeds directly benefited GES students and staff.

CONGRATULATIONS to Hope Halfacre who was chosen as Teacher of the Year at Gilbert Elementary School. Finalists for Teacher of the Year were: Melissa Crumpton, Deanne Ricard and Kelly Williams.

CHILDREN CAN have their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus 2-6 pm Saturday at the Boiling Springs Community Center, 2639 Calks Ferry Road. If you don’t have a camera, Santa’s elves will do it for you.

READ, EAT and Grow for kids – the Gilbert-Summit Branch Library Facebook page – has a cooking video with Miss Megan. She shares cookbooks and demonstrates how children can make delicious pancakes.
