Lexington 1 plans a new elementary school in fast-growing White Knoll south of I-20.

This will be the 3rd new school planned.

A new Lexington Middle School is planned on Old Cherokee Road and an elementary school on US 1 near Gilbert.

During its April 9 meeting, the Lexington District 1 board accepted the administration’s recommendation to enter into an option agreement for 35 acres at South Lake Drive (SC-6) and Blue-field Road. The location, Lexington County TMS # 007600-02-046, can be entered from both roads.

The board’s action begins the district’s due diligence process. It includes many Departments of Education and Transportation and Lexington County guidelines that impact buying land for a school.

Approved by the voters as part of the district’s Nov. 6, 2018, $365 million five-year building plan (2018–2023), the construction of a new elementary school in the White Knoll attendance area ensures that the district can continue to offer its students the facilities they need now and in the future.

This site enables residents to see what is happening at their child’s school and includes “before” photographs, the current phase taking place, photographs of that progress, etc.
