US divorce rates among those age 50 and older has doubled over the past few decades.
For those over 65, it has tripled.
That’s the finding of a recent SeniorList.com study of the Baby Boomer generation.
With 60% of people between 55-64 already married, the dating pool narrows considerably.
For South Carolina seniors, finding love later in life may be more difficult than elsewhere.
SeniorList ranked our state 46th among the 50 states and the District of Columbia for those looking for love after 50.
It found that only 12% of South Carolinians age 55-64 are single.
Only Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia and Mississippi had lower chances of finding love.
Your best shot lies in Maryland, Hawaii or Connecticut.
Men will likely have more luck looking for single women over 50. American women, on average, live about 3 years longer than their male counterparts.
