Most – but not all – Lexington County students are getting a good education. That’s the assessment of the SC Department of Education in its school district report cards. More than 66% of school districts scored higher or kept the same rating compared to this time last year. Only 17% of the schools received a lower rating. Lexington 1, Lexington-Richland 5, Gray Collegiate and East Point Academy received excellent ratings. The report cards also contain local, state and federal per pupil spending data, the first report cards to contain this information as part of a new federal requirement. Excellent ratings went to:
• Lexington 1 elementary schools Lake Murray, Meadow Glen, Midway and Red Bank and Lexington High and River Bluff High.
• Lexington-Richland 5’s Lake Murray Elementary, Chapin Middle and High School, Dutch Fork Middle and High School and Spring Hill High School.
