3 county nursing grads receive special honors

32 students graduating with BS degrees in nursing were honored in a recognition ceremony at Lander University’s William Preston Turner School of Nursing.

3 Lexington County graduates received special recognition:

• Leanna Usry, of Batesburg-Leesville, received the Clinical Excellence Award was. The award recognizes outstanding clinical practice, client-centered care, and innovation in nursing care and practice, as well as management and problem-solving skills.

• Savanna Smith, of Lexington, was the recipient of the Professional Development Award, which recognizes a nursing student who shows substantial professional growth and development.

• Devon Hoskins, of Lexington, received the Nursing Leadership Award, which honors a senior demonstrating emerging ability to advance the practice of professional nursing and creative leadership in solving nursing care problems.

The 32 graduates were: Alexis Ricard, of Gilbert; Marissa Briggs, of Columbia; Jatrese Brownlee, of Hodges; India Chandler, of Abbeville; Elizabeth Claytor, of Lexington; Summer Coates, of Saluda; Britney Dixon, of Anderson; Breanna Elliott, of Iva; Erin Whitcomb, of Ninety Six; Casey Wooten, of Honea Path; Haley Ables, of Westminster; Brandy Goar, of Rock Hill; Devon Hoskins, of Lexington; Katherine Hunton, of Columbia; Mandi Kelly, of Kennesaw, Ga.; Rachel McCary, of Lexington; Alexis McGraw, of Lexington; Jessica Miller, of Greenwood; Sydney Painter, of Evans, Ga.; Andrea Pope, of Georgetown; Amy Pressley, of Lexington; Savannah Jo Reinhardt, of Greenwood; Allison Ross, of Ware Shoals; Emily Rothenberger, of Murrell’s Inlet; Savanna Smith, of Lexington; Sarah Strickland, of West Columbia; Xitlali Torres, of Gaston; Leanna Usry, of Batesburg-Leesville; Susan Ervin, of Columbia; Kristyn Yongue, of Little Mountain; and Taylor Crawford, of Walhalla.
