Pelion High scholarships totaled $6,698,928 as of May 21. An outstanding number for many outstanding students.

Ruritan scholarship recipients are Whitney Craft, Sommer Lucas, Lee Padgett, and Amber Lucky. The Lisa Rucker Memorial scholarships were awarded to Taylor Ashline, Emily Barney, Maria delCarmen Charre, Whitney Craft, Elaysia Keith, Sommer Lucas, Korine Otto, Lee Padgett, and Breanna Spencer. The Roy and Ruth Nichols scholarships were awarded to Jasmine Austin, Emily Barney, and JohnRafael Perry. Taylor Ashline was the recipient of the Paige Erin Marie Widmer Memorial scholarship. Jasmine Austin was the recipient of the CUS scholarship. Emily Barney received the Pelion Woman’s Club scholarship. Orlin Josue Mejia Sosa was the recipient of the Pelion Peanut Party scholarship.

The Pelion Ruritan Club held its 6th annual Veterans Memorial Service May 25. Thanks to all who made this possible and to the community for the support they always give. The crowd was estimated around 150. An accurate count was difficult as a lot of folks stayed in their vehicles. In absence of the school choral group, band, and JROTC, the Soldiers of Faith stepped up to sing and American Legion Pelion Post #101 conducted the flag ceremony. Pelion’s own Col. Michael Haggard, son of Jean and the late Charles Haggard, was the guest speaker.
