A special horse named Lady

Lady, a beautiful Palomino, celebrated her 26th birthday last week. Cindy Parnell of Gilbert has had Lady 3 years. She is among 5 horses on which she teaches children to ride.

Cindy said Lady is gentle, calm and loves the attention the children give her. After riding lessons, her students braid Lady’s mane, brush her and give her treats. Lady is a great horse to use for trail rides and rides around the pastures, Parnell said.

Lady enjoys this attention but her life 3 years ago was not good after she injured her leg. Her owners asked Cindy to take Lady. She was given months of rehabilitation. Soon after Lady was able to trot then lope.

A year later Lady developed cataracts in an eye. Cindy said she was sad to learn Lady’s eye could not be saved. But Lady recovered from her surgery and adjusted to seeing with only an eye.
