Back to school and football

The floors of our schools will soon be sounding the pitter patter of shoes as fall approaches. Lexington and Aiken County schools will soon be opening their doors without a mask mandate. Thank-you, Gov. McMaster for giving this option to parents who care for our children daily. The Quail hopes all will go well. The schools are well prepared and staffed for all situations.

Yes, it’s time for that fall classic - high school football. The Quail’s staff returns to put out the best coverage of the Pelion Panthers, Swansea Tigers and Wagener-Salley War Eagles in their quest for the playoffs.

It started Monday, Aug. 9, with a scrimmage between Swansea and Wagener-Salley and will continue with the Lexington County Sports-A-Rama at Pelion High involving 8 Lexington County teams Friday, Aug. 13. The Quail will be at these events and will report on what happens next week.

The regular season starts Friday, Aug. 20. Pelion is at home against Wagener-Salley and Swansea is at home against Airport.

Hope to see you at the games, and remember to fly safely, my friends....
