The Afghanistan withdrawal puts all Americans at risk, SC Congessmen say.
Springdale Republican Rep. Joe Wilson said, “Sadly, the composition of the proposed Taliban terrorist government confirms a return to total subjugation of women and an invigorated conspiracy to attack Americans abandoned by Biden in Afghanistan while coordinating suicide bombers across America.
"It is gruesome that [President] Joe Biden is not capable of responding when attacks occur and he and [Vice President]Kamala Harris must resign to protect American families.”
Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, joined 11 Republican colleagues and 57 House members who wrote President Biden about the bungled Afghanistan withdrawal.
“Over the past weeks, the world watched with utter shock as the Taliban took over Afghanistan with astonishing speed, the result of unforced errors made by withdrawing completely the small remaining footprint of our main military force from Afghanistan, and by unnecessarily delaying the evacuation of US personnel and our Afghan partners" the letter reads.
'"…The withdrawal carried geopolitical and strategic consequences that have already begun to unfold and will reverberate for decades. Dealing with these consequences means that we must take action now to chart the course for American strategy, while we manage the immediate repercussions of this self-inflicted crisis in Afghanistan.”
• Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, and Congressman Mike Waltz of Florida said: “We welcome the news that 113 Americans, US permanent residents and other western passport holders were allowed to leave Afghanistan and travel to Qatar.
“The fact remains, it was inexcusable that the Biden Administration allowed a terrorist regime to dictate the terms of allowing Americans to leave on their own with their families. The United States does not take orders from terrorists.
“Hundreds of Americans and lawful permanent residents, as well as thousands of Afghan SIVs and other vulnerable Afghans, are trapped behind enemy lines.
"The Biden Administration has not been forthright about the actual number who remain. They must provide Congress and the American people with a full accounting along with a plan to get them safely out of Afghanistan."
