Brookland-Cayce High School is offering a “Buy-A-Brick” campaign for the new sports arena on Knox Abbott Drive.

Organizers of the campaign are suggesting the purchase of a brick with the year you or your children graduated in honor of a favorite teacher, in memory of a fallen classmate, an Athletic or Academic Recognition… The possibilities are endless.

This is your chance to preserve your place in history as a BC Bearcat. Visit www.bearcatclub.com to order.

The Springdale Police Department was recognized by the D.A.R.E. Association of SC at last week’s annual awards banquet. The department was named the 2018 D.A.R.E. Agency of the Year and the award was presented to Sproingdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett.

Cornett brought the D.A.R.E. program back to Springdale Elementary School four years ago. At that time, the department had two certified D.A.R.E. instructors. He was one of the instructors and actively taught the fifth-grade students with another officer who was assigned to patrol duties. Now, the chief is the department’s sole instructor and teaches all classes at Springdale Elementary.

Did you get backed up on Knox-Abbott Drive in Cayce last Monday? It was a sight.

Two lanes of traffic on Knox Abbott Drive (in front of the WalMart Store) were closed Monday evening. The road had been completely blocked after an 18-wheeler truck overturned, causing scrap metal and debris to spill across Knox Abbott Drive. No one was injured in the accident.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety worked the incident that blocked all lanes of traffic for a couple of hours.
