Brett and McKenzie Flashnick are the 8th generation to take over their 34-acre family farm at 1127 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington.

Their children, they hope, will become the 9th.

They plan to open The Farm 1780 this fall for weddings, family reunions, business and other events for up to 375 people. Ceremonies can be conducted at the pond or in a cluster of tall magnolia trees with café lighting in covered areas for receptions.

A bridal suite, groom lounge, prep kitchen and tasting room will be in the main farm house with overnight accommodations for 4 and space for 2 RVs.

Their roadside stand will sell produce and fresh eggs Tuesdays - Thursdays and Sundays. Local farmers can sell their produce at a farmers’ market one Thursday every month from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
