Cayce mayor to help monarch butterflies

Posted

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin has taken the National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge.

Cayce is the first city in South Carolina to sign the pledge to help save Monarchs.

The pledge commits to taking action to help the monarch and other pollinators. The new, national campaign will work with mayors and local government chief executives to help save the declining monarch butterfly.

The City of Cayce recognized Cayce Girl Scout Troop 824 cadets Cassie Drew, Kaitlyn Remia and Chloe Sturkie with a Proclamation June 5, for recently building a butterfly garden in Timmerman Trail for their Girl Scout Silver Award.

Partin was encouraged to sign the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge after learning about the plight of the monarch butterflies from the Girl Scouts in Troop 824. Learn more at: www.nwf.org/MayorsMonarchPledge
