The Chapin High School competitive cheer team repeated as S.C. High School League Class 5A champion this past Saturday at Colonial Life Arena. The Lady Eagles edged out Lower State champion Lexington by 4 points to claim their state-record 15th title and 14th under head coach Vicki Williams (standing 2nd to left next to daughter Billie. Following the victory, Williams announced this was probably her last year leading the program. Other Region 5-5A teams who finished in the Top 10 were River Bluff (3rd), Dutch Fork (5th) and White Knoll (10th). In results at the state finals, Gray Collegiate Academy placed 5th and Gilbert 7th in Class 3A. Brookland-Cayce finished in 7th place in Class 4A, followed by Airport (10th).
