An office complex in the center of Chapin just sold for more than $6.6 million. The property, located at 917 Chapin Rd., was purchased by University Cottages on July 13.
University Cottages, which purchased the property, is a South Carolina-based real estate company that leases out both private and commercial spaces with an emphasis on student housing.
The campus-like office space has three buildings with about 69,000 square feet situated on more than 14 acres of land.
University Cottages is still finalizing leases for the property and hopes to release the names of the new tenants in the next few weeks.
“This property is an excellent fit for University Cottages. The unique campus feel of this office building is expected to contribute significantly to their plans of continued growth and success in the near future,” Rob Lapin of Trinity Partners is quoted in a release.
Trinity, a South Carolina-based real estate company, represented University Cottages in the acquisition.
This isn’t the first ownership change the property has seen in 2023. Colliers represented Great Southern Homes in its purchase of the space in May, announcing that it intended to move its corporate office to Chapin.
“This rare opportunity to purchase an office campus in this condition and size was optimal for a single corporate entity,” Colliers Vice President Henry Roe is quoted in a release about the earlier sale. “Great Southern Homes seized this opportunity with plans to bring its corporate office to this location.”
It’s unclear how much the Great Southern Homes paid for the space.
