Throughout the Summer months the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center crafters made Christmas crafts. They have created an assortment of ornaments, wreaths, pillows, and other Christmas items to sell at their annual craft show.

Director Donna Neel said the crafters are excited about the craft show to be held November, 16, 8 am-1 pm. Sales will benefit the Meals on Wheels program, which provides meals to shut in seniors in our community. Neel said the show will be held indoors at the center, 409 Broad Street.

GSSC members have a busy November planned for them. Activities include: entertainment by Rick Hammond, health seminars, shopping, making Christmas gifts, games, and the celebration of Thanksgiving. If you are a senior age 60 and above, you are invited. For info, call 892-5745.

Beulah United Methodist Church invites seniors in our community to the annual Thanksgiving Dinner. This event will be held on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 10:30 am. The church will provide a delicious Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings plus special entertainment. BUMC also invites Veterans in the community to attend a special breakfast for them on November 11 at 8:45 am. Veterans will also enjoy breakfast with the children who attend their preschool program.

Troop 60 Boy Scout Ethan Cook is working on his Eagle Scout project. His project is a Blessing Box, which is a stationary box that holds nonperishable items left for families in need. Ethan wants to help families with children to have enough to eat. He will locate his Blessing Box at Big Blue Marble Academy in Gilbert. Any monies raised will go to the expenses of building the box and extra monies will go to stocking the box with food. For information on how you can help, email Pack 60 at: gilbertscoutspack60@gmail.com .

The United Methodist Men of Pond Branch UMC invite the community to a Fall Pork/Chicken BBQ November 9, 11 am-1 pm. Plates with whole chickens or 1 pound of pork are $9. Plates include pork or chicken, rice with gravy or hash, slaw, pickles, bread and sweet tea. Whole racks of ribs are $20, ½ racks are $10. PBUMC is just off I-20, exit 44, at 1913 Pond Branch Rd.
