This time of year, many people in our community look forward to some good Christmas music and Christmas-themed productions.
There are a lot of places offering such things in Lexington County. Here’s 2 you should consider.
The first is the musical “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” It will be hosted by Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church, Dec. 14 and 15 at 7:30 pm in the Saxe Gotha lighthouse.
In this warm and compassionate story 3 Kings, following a star to Bethlehem, stop for shelter at the home of Amahl, a poor, crippled shepherd boy and his widowed mother.
Amahl offers his own simple gift for the Christ Child and then a miracle happens.
Cast members are local Lexington talent. Tickets will be available online for $5 at www.saxegotha.org . You can also call the church for tickets at 359-7770.
The second production is Westside Baptist Church’s “Welcome to Bethlehem.”
It’s a musical play based on the traditional Christmas story but set in modern day.
This is the 3rd year in a row that WSBC has put on a Christmas play. They feel that it is another great way to connect with the community that they serve.
The story is about a hotel owner struggling to survive and a young pregnant girl who ends up at the hotel after leaving running away from home.
The hotel hosts a Christmas tree lighting, and someone posts photos of the girl on social media. That’s when things get interesting.
The play will be presented on December 14 and 15 at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. Contact WSBC at 796-208 for details.
So, go enjoy these productions and let me know what you think.
