Gifts for the children’s Christmas tree are due on Dec. 10. Trees are located at Southern Em, Manic Monday’s, Shumpert’s IGA, Hawthorne’s Pharmacy, Deidra’s Shear Cuts, Ole Lady Crafts, and Left Base. Please pick up a tag and purchase a gift for a needy child. Instructions are on the tag as to where to drop off the gifts.

The Christmas Market will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 with food, crafts and entertainment. The Pelion High orchestra will perform. Santa will be there and available for pictures for $10, no appointment is necessary. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and there will be a tunnel of lights along the walking trail. The movie “Elf” will be shown outside the IGA after the parade. Bring a lawn chair and en joy.

The Pelion Branch Library will host Spinecrackers Book Club on Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. Participants will read and discuss “Christmas Bells” written by Jennifer Chiaveini.

The American Legion Post 101 will collect non-perishable food items and canned goods for the community food banks on Dec. 18 during the breakfast with Santa. They would appreciate receiving clean serviceable blankets, coats, clothes and luggage for the shelters. For additional information, contact Sarah Mills at saraheb.mills@gmail.com. Convent Baptist Church will have their annual Christmas pageant on Dec. 19 at 10:30 am. The Children’s program will be that night at 6 p.m.

Happy birthday to Janet Miklosky, Frank Shumpert and Pastor Jerry Branham. Happy anniversary to Frank and Beth Shumpert.
