Church to hold breakfast for veterans

Beulah United Methodist Church will honor Veterans with a special breakfast November 12 at 8:45 am. The breakfast will be served by BUMC preschool students in the Family Life Center. BUMC will celebrate Veterans Day November 11, at both of its services. There will be a video of pictures of those who have served our country.

If you enjoy Southern Gospel music BUMC invites you to hear the Pine Ridge Boys, who will perform November 11 at 6 p.m. The church is at 161 Beulah Church Road. For information, call 892-2842.

The Gilbert-Summit Branch Library invites children to Toddlertime, Preschool Storytime, and Tween Extreme programs. Toddlertime is held Thursdays at 10:30 am for children 18 to 35-months-old. This is an interactive program which encourages early enjoyment of language and literature. Preschool Storytime is held Thursdays at 11:15 am to introduce children to literature, storytelling, poetry and songs. Tween Extreme incorporates young adult literature, crafts, movies, gaming and poetry. This program is held November 8 at 4 pm.

There is a good selection of books and DVDs for sale at the library. For information, call 785-5387.

Cotton Branch Animal Sanctuary would like to have your leftover pumpkins and gourds from Thanksgiving dinners or decorations. They will be fed to the pigs at the farm.  Drop off your pumpkins at the sanctuary between 10 am and 6 pm November 24 or

25.  Pumpkins cannot be accepted if they had a candle burned inside, were already carved, used without kid-friendly non-toxic paint, or covered in a flame retardant as these are toxic. For information,  www.cottonbranch.org .

Gilbert Scout Pack 60 enjoyed its Fall Family camping trip at Santee State Park. November 9, the Scouts will participate in the Gilbert Elementary and Gilbert Primary School Veterans’ Day programs.

Congratulations to Gilbert High School employee Keely Livingston, who was chosen Support Staff of the Year. Congratulations to these finalists: Lori Amick, and Karen Benton. The GHS Student Council adopted Katrina’s Kids as its class project. GHS will collect bookbags, school supplies, toys and books to donate to Katrina’s Kids.
