Churches to feed the needy in our area

A partnership of several local churches, including Red Bank United Methodist and Covenant Community Church, will offer an event March 7 they’re calling “Feeding Our Neighbors.” It’s a free meal of chicken, mac and cheese, and dessert, served from noon until 1:30 pm at Covenant Community Church, 1302 Old Orangeburg Road. The meal is open to all but really designed to provide food and minister to needy families and individuals, including our growing homeless population.

St. James Lutheran on South Lake Drive is holding Sunday evening Lenten Supper and Evening Prayer during the four Sundays of Lent. Suppers begin at 5:15 pm with Evening Prayer at 6.

A new development is going up. Carolina Acres is a sizable community planned for a large tract of former farmland with slight hills and a creek, which is located on SC 6 near Edmund. Signage at the road indicates it will have houses in the “low 100’s” for sale. I’m hoping at this will mean widening SC 6 to four lanes all the way to Edmund, at least, or traffic will just get worse around here.

Happy Birthday this week to Trevor Davis, Silvia Mishoe, Pat Crapps, Morgan Taylor, Joanne Kelley, Vicky Shady, Linda Thomas, Patsy Sharpe, Kathy Lybrand, Tammy Baker, Sara Marie Dye, Vera Snelgrove, Sara Wilson, Thomas Roof, Paul Jones, Ruby Smith, Randy Powell, Elizabeth Gates, and Dianne Kyzer.

Happy anniversary also to the following couples: Robert and Elaine Bedenbaugh, Zach and Diane Huffines, Stephen and Megan Whittle, Freddie and Jackie Barr, and Ken and Jodi Drennon.
