Club raises money for trafficking victims

Posted

A lesson on women’s rights prompted a group of Pelion Middle School students to give back to those living in their community.

The 13 members of PMS’s Generation Global Club participated in a forum on women’s rights.

They video-conferenced with students from England, Ukraine and Pakistan about the issue.

As a result of their discussions, PMS students decided to reach out to women in need in a tangible way.

Club members organized a bake sale at the Pelion IGA, raising $216 for Karis Home in Lexington.

Operated by Lighthouse for Life, Karis Home assists women ages 12 to 21 who have been victims of sex trafficking by providing restorative care and a safe, stable environment.
