The S. C. Pelion Peanut Party is this weekend! Come out and enjoy entertainment, food, crafters, cooking contest, car show, rides, and especially the peanuts!

Thanks a million to Amy McDonald for her leadership in organizing this event! The blessing of the pots is at 5 p.m. Friday with Rev. Jerry Branham. Plenty of live music, rides, food and fellowship afterwards.

The cooking entries must be dropped off at the Pelion Senior Center no later than 9 p.m. Friday. The 5K run registration is from 7 to 8:30 am on Saturday; race time is 9.

The parade kicks off the party at 10 am Saturday. Winners for the car show, parade, and cooking contest will be announced around noon. Food, beer, crafters, and lots of entertainment available throughout the day Saturday. T-shirts and peanuts will beon sale. Money raised from this festival goes towards scholarships for Pelion seniors; supports the Woman’s Club Christmas Tree project; assists with the Boys and Girls State; and Meals on Wheels. So come out and enjoy the event while also supporting your community.

Winners of the S. C. Peanut Queen Pageant are: Division I: Birth to 12 months Stella Rose Calvert; 13-23 months Elliot Mobley; 2 years Maddox Alexander; 3-4 years Bradley Lovell. Overall Beauty Maltilyn Furtick; Overall Costume Harper Lominick; Overall Photogenic Cora Cooper; Overall Winner Lily Grace Hawkins. Division II: 5-6 years Paisley Hendrix; 7-9 years Peyton Hendrix and Mallory Rodgers; 10-12 years Hayley Maxwell; 13-14 years Harly Williamson; 15-16 years Chelby Drafts; 17-19 years Tessa Arguette; 20 years Tiffany Takas. Overall Beauty McKenna Smith; Overall Costume Delaney Cranshaw; Overall Photogenic Emmerson Hicks; Overall Winner Sarah Katherine Cantrell.

Forts Pond Elementary School Legos and Leaders meets on November 3 at, 10 am at FPES. The FPES Run Hard race is November 3 at Columbiana Mall on Harbison. The race starts at 8 a.m.; runners should be there by 7:30 am. Grades 2 and 3 will hold their music performance at 6:30 p.m. at FPES on November 8.
