Crout, Jeffcoat win individual state titles

The pair of Chronicle Country wrestlers placed 1st in Class 3A at the S.C. High School League Individual Wrestling championships this past Saturday at the Anderson Civic Center.

Will Jeffcoat won the 285-pound weight class by pinfall. At 126 pounds, Brennen Crout of Gilbert outpointed West-Oak’s Josh Collins 7-2 to claim the gold medal.

Crout, along with his brother Barrett, will participate at the S.C. North/ South All-Star Classic in Myrtle Beach. They will compete on the South Class 3A/4A team with Blake Bagwell (Pelion), Tadrick Hallman (Swansea) and Kwahlei Hall (Brookland-Cayce).

Sam Emery (River Bluff), Quinten Dodd (White Knoll), Shawn Haile (Chapin) and Will Frazier (Lexington) will compete on the South Class A/2A/5A team. Brookland-Cayce head coach Craig Watts will work with the South teams.
