Deputies to practice social distancing

We interact with the public in everything we do.

That’s a part of the customer service we’re committed to provide everyone in the community.

We’re also committed to protecting the community.

As the response to COVID-19 evolves, that means protecting you, our deputies and employees against potential illness.

The public health experts say social distancing is one of the best ways to slow the spread of COVID-19.

That means avoiding close contact with others whenever possible.

This guidance from infection control specialists will modify how we respond to some non-emergency calls for service related to incidents that have already happened.

You’ll likely receive a telephone call from a deputy in a situation like this, rather than an in-person meeting.

On-duty supervisors will decide if a deputy responds in person or with a phone call, based on the nature of your call for service.

Our follow-up and next steps when it comes to investigating cases generated during these telephone calls will not change.

As always, we will never hesitate in responding to emergency calls for service involving crimes in progress or other incidents threatening someone’s well-being or life.

This slight change reduces the risk of deputies spreading germs to many individuals and locations across the county.

Working together during these unusual conditions, we can slow the spread of germs and help keep our community safe and healthy.
