Discovery of ‘Health Trails’

As many know, I am a huge health guru. I love being active and thoroughly enjoy working out.

I stumbled upon something interesting while in Delaware visiting family recently.

My family and I went to one of the local parks there.

The park had a fitness assessment course called Health Trail. The courses are based off of city or county demographics including age and health status of the area.

I just had to try it out.

There were 10 parts to it. It included leg stretches, jumping jacks, spring-ups, flat footed jumps, high jumps, isometric squats, sit-ups, vault bar jumps, step-ups and knee raises.

The park directions suggested the routine be followed 3-4 times a week to increase vitality and good health.

Each step had 3 levels to choose from - beginner, intermediate and expert.

I chose the beginner level. I was proud of myself after I completed the challenge.

My entire family participated, and it was amazing.

Lexington County should include this type of course in our parks.

I would participate every day.

Next week: How to prevent neck pain
