District 1 attendance zones won’t change yet

Meadown Glen Middle school attendance lines will remain the same for now.

Lexington County School District 1 Board of Trustees decided Feb. 19, to postpone redrawing the attendance zone until 2021.

By that time, a new Lexington Middle School will be open in a different location.

The revised attendance zone for the new Beechwood Middle School, scheduled to open in August, will not change the attendance zone of Meadow Glen Middle as initially presented.

Beechwood Middle is located at 1340 Highway 378 on a 34.57-acre site. The finished 196,000-square-foot school designed for 1,200 students has the capacity to serve 1,500 students.

District administrators revised the attendance zone plans after receiving feedback from district parents at recent school board meetings.

The District 1 Board will hold a third reading of the zoning plan at the March 19 Board Meeting.

Parents can also keep up with information about the rezoning process at http://www.lexington1.net/lexnews/all-you-need-toknow-about-BMS-zoning .
