Do you get no satisfaction?

Posted

When I was a pre-teen in the 60’s I remember the Rolling Stones singing “I can’t get no satisfaction.”

My mother instantly pointed out the horrible grammar.

Of the whole song, the only lyric I knew was the title.

So, 50 years later I googled the question and found this:

“I can’t get no satisfaction (repeat a lot):

When a man come on the radio

He’s telling me more and more some useless information

Supposed to fire my imagination

I can’t get no satisfaction!”

Well, there you have it – Keith Richards and Mick Jagger in 1965 wrote the 2020 theme song!

But seriously, where do you find satisfaction in life?

It will not come from listening to all the double-talk, mixed messages, and constant barrage of covid-19 information coming over the internet and through our TV’s and radios.

I will tell you where I get my satisfaction.

It comes from relationships.

No man is an island, and we find our meaning and purpose for living in our relationships with other people.

That’s why the most un-satisfying slogan meant to encourage us is the oxymoron, “Alone Together.”

Human beings require companionship and community.

We need to be together physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

God said from the very beginning, “It is not good for man to be alone.”

And the greatest relationship that brings satisfaction to your very soul is when you have a relationship with God, your Creator, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

But many are now separated from God, quarantined by a deadly virus called sin.

So here is the secret to the satisfaction of having a relationship with God who is spirit: Don’t just live in the physical realm.

Move up to a spiritual plane where Jesus has forgiven you of your sins, put His Spirit within you, made you a family member in the Body of Christ, and given you a new song called, “I’m Satisfied!”

Next week: The winds of change
