The SC Department of Transportation wants your input on its 2 latest spending plans.

The SCDOT Commission approved a 21-day public comment period for budget and schedule changes to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.

Projects include the Safety Program Intersection List, Road Safety Audits and Pedestrian Road Safety Audits Lists. They can be viewed at https://www.scdot.org/publicinvolvement/pdf/Safety-Program-Intersection-List.pdf .

Only one Lexington County project is listed. It’s labeled as a “intersection safety” project at US 21 (Charleston Hwy) and S-1258 (Old Wire Rd).

The total cost estimate of these intersections is $66,850,000 with the use of Highway Safety funding.

The phase of work, fiscal years, and breakdown of costs is shown at SCDOT’s Public Notification of the STIP Amendment to Include Safety Programs Intersection List, Road Safety Audits, and Pedestrian Road Safety Audit Lists.

The 2nd comment period is for amendments to the 2017-2022 SIP for 2 Safety Corridor Improvement Projects.

They are US 1-S-1508 (Ermine Road) to S-74 (Alexandra Street) in Lexington County, and US 1-S-1720 (Atrium Way) to S-2271 (Risdon Way) in Richland County.

Those projects are estimated to cost $4.7 million. More details can be found at SCDOT’s Public Notification of a STIP Amendment to Include Improvements for Two Corridor Safety Projects in Lexington and Richland Counties.

SCDOT estimates the total spending will be $71,550,000.
