Small amounts of a mind-altering drug have been found in kids’ snacks.

“Incidents in the Town of Lexington have been infrequent and in small quantities, Sgt. Cameron Mortenson of the LPD said.

Capt. Adam Myrick of he Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said they have seen a handful of items but it’s been sporadic.

“No large quantities similar to what was found in Greenwood,” he said.

Greenwood Police last week cautioned parents of the dangers of THC edibles in similar packaging to regular kid-friendly snacks,

THC is a psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that makes users feel high.

Greenwood Police seized 165 packages of the contraband in a traffic stop.

They also seized quantities of other forms of marijuana, more than 40 grams of cocaine, dozens of fentanyl pills and an illegally owned pistol.

“They look exactly like packages of snacks that we give our kids,” Sgt. Jonathan Link said. “If a 5-year-old kid sees that and goes, ‘Bag of Cheetos!’ pops it open and starts eating.

“Now, they’re consuming mind-altering THC.”
