ROAD WARRIORS

The overall dominance of Dutch Fork football is well-documented the past three seasons.

Friday’s 56-14 rout of previously undefeated River Bluff marked the program’s 17th consecutive overall and region victory. The Silver Foxes (6-0, 2-0) have scored 50 or more points in all six games, all victories, this season and are winning by a margin of 376-56.

Also overlooked in Dutch Fork’s prowess away from its home stadium. This past Friday’s win over River Bluff was the 15th consecutive road win dating back to Oct. 13, 2015 (a 28-21 loss to Ridge View).

“Home or away really doesn’t matter,” Dutch Fork head coach Tom Knotts said. “We just want to get dialed in, get better every week and move on.”

Lexington is the next team looking to defend its home field against the Silver Foxes. The Wildcats (4-2, 1-0) are coming off a bye week and bring their defense which is allowing 15 points a game against a Dutch Fork team averaging 63 points a game.

“We’re just going to have to play great,” Lexington head coach Perry Woolbright said. “We can’t have mistakes, can’t give up big plays, things they do to be successful. We’re not hiding from what they are. They’re averaging 60-something points, giving up under (9.3 points a game), so it is what it is. So we’ve just got to go out and play with effort, let what happens take care of itself. “The biggest thing is they create so many big plays and stuff like that, teams kind of back off. So we’re going to try to play aggressively on both sides of the ball and, hopefully, take care of that football. Keep that offense off the field some and let what happens happen.”

The freshman quarterback completed 11-12 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ 34-21 win over Edisto. It marked the team’s first 2-game winning streak since 2014.
