A Dutch Fork co-hero from the state championship game earned All-Star MVP honors for the 2nd straight week.
Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt caught 2 touchdowns in leading South Carolina to a 28-17 win over North Carolina at the 83rd annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas at Gibbs Stadium.
The University of Tennessee signee had 6 receptions for 197 receiving yards. He caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Mikele Colasurdo in the 1st quarter and turned a screen pass from Carolina Forest quarterback Mason Garcia into a 72-yard touchdown to put the Sandlappers up 14-10.
After North Carolina answered with a scoring drive, South Carolina closed out the game with 14 straight points.
Hyatt’s performance comes 2 weeks after catching the game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Olenchuk in overtime of the Class 5A title win over Dorman.
Just a week ago, Hyatt was present in Myrtle Beach as a Mr. S.C. Football finalist. He witnessed Olenchuk throw 2 touchdown passes in leading the South to a 35-14 comeback win over the North at the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives All-Star Bowl. The Clemson baseball signee earned South Offensive MVP honors.
