Enjoy the peace of the Christmas season

It is a Merry Christmas week! Santa came to the Christmas tree lighting at Chapin Town Hall, where kids made crafts, and Mayor Knight read the book, The Polar Express.

Children can go to the State Museum on December 21-23 to ride on The North Pole Express in the 4D theater holiday show. Call 803-898-4921 for more information.

One of my early childhood memories involves holding a candle and singing Silent Night during a Christmas Eve service. The singing voices that echoed throughout the candlelit sanctuary, made an impression on me; it was simple, serene and peaceful. I was disappointed when the lights were turned on and the organist loudly hammered out the last hymn, destroying the peaceful hush I so enjoyed.

To usher in the real reason for the season, find a Christmas Eve service near you, and hear the message of a savior who came as a baby.

Twas’ the week before Christmas and everyone is scurrying about, cleaning, cooking and buying presents for everyone in their house!  The cars are filled with presents and luggage with care, for holiday travels and visits with relatives who live elsewhere.

Children dash to the car to Saluda Shoals, to see millions of sparkling and twinkling Christmas lights, and smile with delight!

Off with the clutter, messes, and disorder, to make way for beautiful holiday décor. May all the toys to be assembled, be assembled with ease. And when all the presents are wrapped, and children snuggled in their beds, the parents enjoy the quiet and some of Santa’s cookies, while visions of presents dance in their children’s heads!

Merry Christmas to all and to all happy and joyful nights!
