Lexington County firefighters entered a burning home to rescue a disabled homeowner and her dog Monday.

The fire was reported just before 10 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Colony Lakes Drive.

Firefighters rescue disabled homeowner, dog

Lexington County firefighters entered a burning home to rescue a disabled homeowner and her dog Monday.

The fire was reported just before 10 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Colony Lakes Drive.

Lexington County firefighters found the physically disabled owner in a rear bedroom and carried her and her dog and carried them out of the home.

After an examination by EMS, the patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The dog is believed to be all right and staying with a relative.
