Former Sessions lot sold

Posted

The long-time home of a family-owned department store has been sold for an undisclosed price.

Local attorney Bert Dooley and Pelion businessman Frank Shumpert sold the property to Lexington Hospitality, operated by the Champaneri family which operates two other lodgings on West Main Street.

Chris Farley of locally-owned Southern Visions Real Estate handled the sale of the 1.4 acres at 116 East Main Street. After Sessions department store closed, Dooley and Shumpert had planned a retail, office and restaurant building there before the real estate bubble burst in 2007. The buyers are believed to be planning a hotel on the property.
