Friends to hold BBQ fundraiser for funeral expenses of Vietnam veteran

A fundraiser to help with the funeral expenses of US Army veteran Jack Conger will be held in Pelion August 29, 11:30 am until sold out.

Conger was a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient with ongoing health issues. He is survived by Rhea, his wife of 50 years, and three daughters. His friends have organized a barbecue dinner to help with his expenses.

The drive-through dinner can be picked up at the Rite Temp Heating and Air parking lot in Pelion, 7467 Edmund Highway. Dinner includes barbecue chicken, cole slaw, green beans, roll and a slice of cake for $8.

Donations may be made for Jack Conger to Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Rd., Columbia SC 29212.

Jack Lee Conger, 75, of Leesville died July 26, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Springfield Ohio, and married his wife, Rhea, in 1969. Private graveside services were held July 30, 2020, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
