Get creative with home workouts

Many of us have gotten into the habit of sitting during quarantine.

Whether your gym is closed or perhaps you are not quite ready to get back out into the mix, you have plenty of opportunities to exercise at home to help you stay well and blow off some stress and anxiety.

Don’t own any dumbbells or a treadmill? Great news! with a little creativity, you can get a solid workout in with little to no equipment.

I’ve always been a fan of getting out in the fresh air and sunshine for a brisk walk, run or bike ride.

Need some dumbbells? Try using water bottles, canned goods or larger jugs of water, laundry detergent or sand.

Paper plates or furniture sliders can be used with planks, lunges and push ups.

Fill a sturdy backpack with weighted items, and use it in a variety of exercises to add a challenge.

Exercise bands can easily be ordered online for minimal cost.

Search online for home workout ideas and bodyweight exercises.

You might also consider checking out online personal training. There are many free video conferencing tools available. Trainers around the country are using online training to help clients keep making progress amidst the pandemic craziness.

Whatever your situation is, stay physically active in some way. Now more than ever, your health depends on it.
