Farmers2Neighbors is fulfilling orders for fresh SC Farmers Market produce.

FoodShare SC and Senn Brothers have teamed up to help restore jobs lost at the Farmers Market in Lexington County, reopen links in our food distribution system and bring fresh food to those isolated on their homes.

You can buy Community Produce Boxes online. Senn Brothers buys it from local farmers and regional producers. That makes it possible to rehire workers laid off due to the virus.

Those workers box fresh produce and deliver it to the neighborhoods that have placed orders for boxes.

The program is reaching out to neighborhood associations to sign up for and help distribute the boxes.

Any group of neighbors, a church or other organization can appoint a captain who can coordinate and see that the boxes are picked up from the distribution point in their neighborhood, and then delivered to homes.

This is produce that would otherwise go to waste. It is all high-quality. No seconds.

Precautions are taken to ensure safety. Farmers Market workers will use gloves and employ EPA-registered sanitizer products in cleaning and sanitizing practices.

Volunteers will practice social distancing in picking up and delivering boxes. Boxes will be placed in volunteers’ trunks at distribution points with no contact by hand.

Each box costs $21 ordered online by credit or debit card. SNAP participants can buy a box for only $10 and neighborhood captains will be shown how to handle those orders.

To enroll your neighborhood or organization in the program or to sign up individually to receive a box at your home, go to https://foodsharesc.org/farmers-2neighbors/.
