Girl Scout Troop 3375 is reaching out to our community for your help. Christian Gary Wilson, spokesperson for Troop 3375, said the girls are collecting a variety of items for their Veterans Christmas basket project. Troop 3375 wanted to share their love to as many Veterans as they could.

“The more donations they receive the more baskets they can make,” Wilson said.

Christmas will be here soon and currently Troop 3375 does not have enough donations to fill the baskets. Here is a list of items needed: socks, throw blankets, deodorant, snacks, toothbrushes, cough drops, small bottled water, body wash, soap, pens and word search booklets. Donations can be dropped off inside Shumpert’s IGA in Pelion or to call Wilson to arrange for a drop off at 803-317-1941.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Gilbert. Recently, Gilbert Scouts Pack 60 helped place the annual Christmas lights in Gilbert Community Park. Many other volunteers also came and helped put up the lights on both sides of the park. The Christmas lights will be turned on each night through Jan. 1.

Last week, Harold Taylor put up Christmas lights on the telephone poles throughout the town of Gilbert. Adding to the Christmas décor are churches in Gilbert who have decorations on their doors and windows.
