Boating Safety Class: Mar. 16, 8:30 am-4:30 pm at ECPI University, Suite 300, 250 Berryhill Road in Columbia, SC. About Boating Safely, taught by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, is certified by South Carolina DNR. Students who pass the course will be issued a South Carolina Boater Education Card. Cost is $30 per person or $50 for 2 family members sharing materials. Students under 12 must be accompanied by an enrolled adult. GAL Training: Free 30-hour volunteer Guardian ad Litem training teaches about the Family Court system, how to recognize abuse and neglect and how to communicate with children, foster parents and every party involved in the case. Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: Mar. 19, 7 pm at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. This hit play is based on the novel by Mark Haddon and was adapted by Simon Stephens and will show on screen at MTC. It premiered at the National Theatre in 2012, and then transferred to London’s West End and Broadway in New York. It has toured extensively around the world and continues to thrill audiences internationally both on screen and on stage. Peter Pan and Wendy: Mar. 17, 3:30 pm at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. This production is a re-imagining of J.M. Barrie’s classic book. The plot focuses on Wendy’s transition from child to responsible young lady – with plenty of adventure in between! When Wendy refuses to leave the nursery and sleep downstairs, her mother gives her a mysterious box containing Peter Pan’s shadow. Unable to resist, Wendy opens it, Peter arrives, and they’re off to Neverland. Tickets are $12 and ages three and under are free. River Rocks Music Festival: Apr. 13, 12-8 pm along the banks of the Congaree River next to Founders Park in Columbia. Renowned Nashville musician and songwriter Justin Townes Earle will headline. Bikers Against Violence Ride: Mar. 30, 9:30-10:30 am. The ride will start at Harley Haven, 941 Western Lane, Irmo and will end at SCDJJ Broad River Road Complex in Columbia. Tickets are $25.
